With the Changers Starter Kit anyone can produce solar energy for their mobile devices and get rewarded with Changers Credits for reducing their CO2 emissions in return. The starter kit contains the revolutionary Changers KalhuohfummiTM solar charger and the Changers MaroshiTM solar module.
KalhuohfummiTM is an easy-to-use solar charger with advanced technology that accurately measures how much solar energy it captures and stores it, ready to charge any smartphone, tablet or other electronic device that can be charged via USB. A fully charged KalhuohfummiTM contains enough power to charge 2 iPhones.
The KalhuohfummiTM solar charger is powered by the MaroshiTM flexible solar module, which can be attached to any window or sunny surface. The MaroshiTM solar module can generate up to 4 Watts per hour - enough to charge the KalhuohfummiTM in 4 hours.
The energy generated can then be shared with others on the www.changers.com community website, based on the amount of energy produced Changers Credits are awarded which can then be spent to get money off or a free gift with selected retail partners on the Changers Marketplace.

Great design, cool functionality

I ordered a Changers Starterkit right after they released their product and TechCrunch wrote about it. I really like the design and feel of both the solar module and the charger. What I like best, though, is the ability to upload your performance data to the web dashboard. This makes my own energy consumption and production really transparent.After playing around with it for some time, I realized that charging it device outside (not behind a window or so) increases the performance a lot. If there is no sun at all, e.g. on a foggy Bay Area day, the device doesn't charge at all. I guess that's one of the basic problems of solar energy, still it's disappointing.
