[New] Anker® Astro Slim2 4500mAh Dual 5V 1A Output Ultra Slim Portable Power Bank Backup External Battery Charger with Hideaway Micro-USB for Android, USB Port for iPhones and other devices

Product Description

Our goal was simple: design a powerful battery that stacks up -- literally.

Slimmer and stronger
At 10mm, Anker's Astro Slim2 comes with enough power for 2-3 charges on most smartphones in a compact, easy-to-grip case. Stack it behind your device and enjoy instant, uninterrupted use. An LED column on the front of the battery lets you know just how much juice is left without diverting attention from your work. Our goal was to make the Slim2 seem as if it wasn't even there.

Say goodbye to knots
Who doesn't hate tangled cables? With an intuitively-sized micro USB cord for Android, the Slim2 allows you to carry your power all-in-one. We haven't forgotten about Apple users, though: a USB port makes it possible for iPhones to charge via OEM wires. Free yourself from cords and get back to what's most important: life.

No expense to speed
What's better than a high-capacity battery that slides into your pocket on-the-go? One capable of providing your devices with simultaneous, full-speed charges. Both ports supply 1A of power with complete safety to your phones, so you can get back to a full bar in no time and make the most of your day.

4great for daily use
By asho
My first Anker product was the Astro2 and I was very happy with it but needed more power. I got the Astro 3E because of it's 10000mAh capacity, but it isn't the most convenient unit to carry around. I got this Astro Slim2 today and I think it'll be my new daily power supply. It's so lightweight compared to both the Astro2 and Astro 3E, and it's got a nice matte finish, unlike the glossy fingerprint magnet finish the other 2 have. The built in micro-usb cord was a nice touch, but using it with my Nexus 4 I had to remove the bumper to get the charger to plug in (my main reason for 4 stars not 5). I charged my Nexus from 40% to full (while using it for about 30min to browse the web) and that took the Slim2 down to 1 out of 4 power bars. It's a great little unit if you're like me and don't like being without an external battery just in case. Anker gave me this product in exchange for my honest feedback.

5Review of Anker Astro Slim2 4500 mAh External Battery
By Twister
This is a review of Anker Astro Slim2 4500 mAh dual output External battery (5V 1A Input, 5V 1A dual output with built in hideaway cable for one of the output ports), and tested to be used with my Galaxy Note 2.Every time I start to think about extended battery, I run into a big question of what am I going to do with all my cases that no longer going to fit the phone. That is why I decided to explore external battery solution. I don't trust no-name ebay brands because those have overly exaggerated capacity rating. So I turned to a trusted brand, Anker, since I heard/read a lot of positive reviews about their products. In comparison to my stock (Galaxy Note 2) 3100 mAh battery, this Slim2 external battery is not over the top with its 4500 mAh labeled capacity, and it will be even less due to internal conversion losses going from battery through usb port and to the phone. What makes the battery stand out is it's unbelievable slim form factor and all the design details that go with it.When you first take it in your hand you can't believe how light and slim it is. We are talking about 10mm slim!!! I can see that a lot of thought went into it's design. The case of this external battery is made out of tough plastic with a matte finish and sides have a rubbery finish for a nice grip. The form factor is very slick, something that can go easily into your pocket or purse or even carried in one hand attached externally to your phone. The unit has one micro-usb input port which is cleverly covered by hideaway micro-usb output cable/connector, and another regular usb output port. Pretty much it eliminates a need to carry any external cables since the one you need for your Android device is already built-in. The cable for that external micro-usb connector is flat, flexible, and just long enough to wrap around the end of the battery pack, and it should be sufficient to connect to any phone or tablet. As part of the accessories that come with Slim2, you also get usb-to-micro-usb extension cable with additional mini-usb adapter and Apple 30pin adapter. This second regular usb Output port also comes very handy for another important reason. The hideaway micro-usb connector has trapezoid shape. It should work fine with most of the slim or rugged cases that have silicone or tpu inner shell/bumper surrounding micro-usb port opening. But if you have a case with some narrow shaped micro-usb opening, that's where 2nd usb output port comes in handy to use external usb cable with a slim micro-usb connector (the one included as part of accessories is perfect for that!!!). And of course, you can also use it with other adapters if you need to charge your Apple device, for example. There is no power button, instead you have auto on/off capability and display of battery capacity using 4 led lights partitioned in 25% increments. Every time you plug/unplug power cable those lights lid up to show you capacity level or charging level. Also, auto shut off reassures that you will not overcharge the battery once it reaches 100%. I charged this battery to 100% (indicated by 4 solid lights), and used with my Note 2 which was down to 55%. To my surprise charging time was very fast considering it has 1A output, and I was able to get my phone back to 100% within 1.5 hour with 2 led lights remaining thus indicating that battery still had 50% of charge left.Overall, I'm very pleased with Slim2 as an emergency battery pack. It's slim, easy to grip, light weight, small footprint, NO need for external cables, and ability to charge 2 devices simultaneously. Definitely recommend it!

5Astro Slim2 4500mAh Dual 5V 1A Output Ultra Slim External Battery
By Rockster
This review is on the Astro Slim2 4500mAh Dual 5V 1A Output Ultra Slim External Battery.Note: Anker shipped me this external battery in return for my putting it through its paces and giving an honest evaluation - Good or bad.My need: I have a Motorola Droid RAZR smartphone which goes everywhere with me. I do not have the RAZR MAXX with the bigger battery - I thought to save $100 at the time by getting just the RAZR with the smaller battery. That was my big mistake. When I am out and about using my smartphone, you can almost watch the battery discharge. Browsing the web, using facebook, making calls - you would think that these would not be all that draining. I don't even watch videos on my smartphone. But I do take some pictures and upload them to facebook. By the afternoon, I am looking at 30% battery left and so I will not be able to get through the evening without finding a place to plug in and give the battery a boost. Then along came the opportunity to try out an external charging battery that I could carry in my pocket and use to recharge or even run my phone when I am out where there is no ac power or vehicle cigar lighter available to keep it going. This was going to be a good test for sure.Packaging: I love the way this device comes packaged. Most of the time, devices like this come in a blister package that is impossible to open. The packaging is usually an oddball shape and sealed in heavy duty plastic that you can't tear open. You have to get scissors out and try to cut around the edge to get the device out. Many times, the cut plastic slices my fingers as I try to wrest the dang device out of a half cut blister pack that even resists my scissors. I hate them! The Anker Astro Slim2 4500mAh External Battery comes in a nice square plastic box with a flap on top sealed with a small piece of tape. Remove the tape and open the flap and everything falls out ready to use. So, just this gives the device a gold star in my book.Features: This external battery has some great features. The box it ships in includes adapters so you can charge Androids and Apples. You get a micro-USB cable which fits my Droid RAZR just fine. It also comes with a micro USB to mini USB adapter and with a micro USB to Apple 30-pin adapter. So you are covered for a lot of different situations. The box does not come with an ac power plug or module. However, the data cable that comes with the unit has a standard USB plug on the other end and will fit any USB AC power adapter that has a 5-volt output. I have several adapters laying around from various cell phones I have had over the past several years and they all fit the data cable that comes in the box with this unit. The manual says the battery pack will charge faster with a power plug that has at least 1-amp output. The USB charging cable that came with my Droid RAZR works perfectly to charge this battery pack. Even the USB charging cable that came with my Kindle Fire tablet works with this external battery. The Slim2 4500 mAh external battery has a built in cable that wraps around the unit at the top and fits into a micro-USB slot when not in use. This is the same slot that is used to charge the battery. Otherwise, it is used to secure the built in cable. When you want to charge your phone, you just unplug it from its docking slot and plug it into the micro-USB slot of your phone. It also has a standard USB port on the side that you can use with a USB cable and the Apple 30-pin adapter or the mini-USB adapter and appropriate cable to charge other devices. You can even charge 2 things at once with the two different USB outputs.Size-wise, the external battery is slightly smaller than my Droid RAZR phone and about the same thickness. It fits fine in the side pockets of my cargo shorts. Therefore, I can carry it with me in the same pocket as my RAZR or in an opposite pocket of my pants. The battery has 4 lights on the front that indicate how much charge it holds. 4-lights mean a full charge. When I took the battery out of its packaging, it showed 2 lights, so it does not come fully charged. It took around an hour to get it to full charge - 4 lights. After it is fully charged, the lights turn off. But when you plug it into a phone and it is charging the phone battery, the lights come back on and they will go from 4-to-3-to-2-to-1 light as it discharges itself to charge your battery.I first tested it by plugging it into my RAZR phone when the phone showed 50% charge left. It charged my RAZR to 100% in about 55 minutes and was still showing 3 lights so it still had plenty of juice left to use for another phone or device. But where this battery really showed its utility and lived up to its advertising was when I used it at Disney World where we just returned from. Any Disney fans out there know that when you are out and about at the different parks, you are out all day running around. I am always stopping and taking pictures and then putting them up on my facebook page for family/friends to see what we are doing or to e-mail to someone who isn't on facebook. Taking pictures sucks battery - especially when you use the flash. I was constantly running low on my cellphone battery. But with this external battery pack in my pocket, all I had to do was to was whip out the battery, plug it into my phone, put the duo back in my pocket and go on my way. I can use my phone with the battery pack attached, and as long as the battery pack was attached to the RAZR, it was charging the RAZR's internal battery. After a while, I could disconnect the external battery and get back to normal with just my cell phone. At night when we were back in the room, I recharged the Slim2 battery and was ready for the next day.So for me, this is a great battery. It certainly has the guts to charge several devices before it has to be recharged itself. If you are out and about a lot and have a problem with your phone battery running down at inopportune times, having one of these in your pocket/purse could be a lifesaver. The price is very good for what you get. I can see future Christmas gifts for our grown kids.
