Making the epic last all day... EPIC *EDIT*
By RunninNGunnin13
I just got this here battery and battery cover yesterday and tested it out today while I was working.Usually on a normal day of work my battery is dead after 9 hours of medium use. Today with the new bigger battery I put it to heavy use by listening to Slacker radio all day which constantly uses a data connection (heavy drainage). So far it looks like it lasted all day for me, tomorrow we shall see how it fares with normal use!*EDIT* 3 weeks after initial use... the battery has begun to go from like 80% to just flatout shutting off super quick after around 10 hours... and then it will sometimes just not let me charge it back up, my phone will say "use supported battery" Will use it for another couple days unless it keeps doing this, then Im gonna be done with it.

Better, but no solution.
By Scott
I've had this battery for about six weeks now.At first it did manage to extend the phone life through the end of a normal day, 20-30 text messages, checking email periodically, a few short calls, listening to a little on-board (not streaming) music... I would only consider myself a moderate-usage person and the original battery just couldn't even keep up with that. Now, just six weeks later... with 4G turned off... neither can this one. I usually get to around 7:00 PM and it starts complaining that it needs to charge. That's about 5 hours better than the original battery, but REALLY folks? We can't keep a phone that is on standby for the majority of the day alive until sundown?I can only imagine that some of my higher-usage friends would find it dead after about 3 hours.I wouldn't necessarily count this as a product defect against the battery, though. I think the battery is probably doing the best that current battery technology can do for a glutton like the Epic. I predict Epic owners will soon be seen dragging a car battery around behind them on a cart everywhere they go.BTW, I am from the tech industry and have hundreds of devices. I know good battery maintenance and have stuck to it, so it's not that. It's just that the Epic is extremely hungry, and even this higher capacity battery can provide little more than an appetizer.

Easy Fix to extending your Battery Life on your Epic 4G
By Stephanie Freas
This is off the android forum and has worked amazingly well for my phone :The Airplane Mode Toggle TrickOne of the biggest drains on a mobile phone battery is when there is a weak signal and the cellular radio frequently scans for a signal. Not much can be done about this when reception truly is weak or there is no signal whatsoever. However, there is an insidious bug in the current Epic firmware that "tricks" the phone into thinking it does not have a signal, and causing the power drain while the phone is scanning for a good signal&emdash;even though it already has one!You can tell if you are affected by this bug by checking your battery usage:(Menu) ' Settings ' About phone ' Battery use ' Cell standbyOn this screen you will see a line that reads "Time without a signal". If you've been in a good coverage area but the percentage on this line is high (say 50% or so) then you are suffering from the bug described previously. Now, how to fix it? Until Samsung or Sprint provides us with an update, there is a simple trick that works around this bug. All you have to do is put your phone in airplane mode. Hold down the power button on your phone until the pop-up menu appears and then select Airplane mode. Wait approximately 15 seconds, then repeat the process to take your phone back out of airplane mode. For reasons that are not clear to anyone, this airplane mode toggle will prevent the false weak signal bug and the battery drain that goes along with it.One important thing to note is that this workaround does not survive a power cycle. You will need to repeat this process every time you restart your phone.
