A must have for smartphone users

My wife brought a RAVPower 5600mAh External Battery Pack 3 month ago, and she highly recommended me to get a power bank as well. So I decided to get the 10000 mAh power bank from the same supplier based on her recommendation.First thing I noticed about this product is the packaging is very professional. Most of the unknown branded product I brought from Amazon comes in a white box, The RAVPower power bank comes with nicely designed packaging as well as a proper user manual that doesn't confuse you. The blue LEDs are very bright. The hard black glossy surface is durable, not easy to scratch. But keep in mind that it is also prone to fingerprints easily. Overall, the built quality is really good.Like many people out there, I never felt the need to have a external power pack. Before this, I had to remind myself to charge my phone every night, which I sometimes forgot and ended up with a flat battery. During the day, I did not want to leave my phone near a power outlet in the office because it is too far away from where I am sitting. Having the power bank on my desk is a perfect solution. Now I can come to my office with a flat battery, charge my phone using the power bank and still keep the phone nearby. Within one full charge of the power bank, I managed to charge my phone (HTC Sensation) 5 times before the battery gets down to only 1 LED. That is 3 days for my HTC sensation to live without the power grid.One issue I wish to point out is that it takes a rather long time of 8-9 hours to charge up the power bank from empty to full charge. I just leave the power bank charging using one of the power outlet in the office before I leave, and it will be fully charged next morning. Overall, this is a very useful gadget that complements those power hunger smartphones.

Doesn't come with charging brick, slow charging, better options exist

At $59.99 it's OK (certainly wouldn't pay full price for it), but it doesn't even come with a charger brick (charge through computer? PUHLEEZE!).Take a look at the Anker Astro 3 (listed in "Also Bought"). The Anker is the same capacity (10,000mAh) and the same price but in addition to the 5V outputs, it has a 9/12V output for charging or running higher voltage items. I got two of these Ankers for our last European trip. It has two USB 5V outputs that kept all our phones and pads and game units charged, and then the Anker also has the 9/12V output (switchable) that I used to extend the runtime of our DVD players for the long flight. One DVD player was 9V and the other was 12V so it worked out great. The Anker comes with a wide variety of plugs for various devices (including Apple 30-pin for all old iPhones, iPods, and iPads) and little coiled USB charging cables (or you can use your own). It also comes with a cable and an assortment of plugs for the 9/12V output -- fit both of my players.The Anker ALSO comes with a 12V 1A (12W) wall charger that charges it up in a few hours rather than the 7-8 hours of the RAVpower charging on a 1A USB charger (5W), or 15 hours on a computer USB port (2.5W).Remember, Power = Voltage x Current, Energy (Watt-hours) is Power x Time. 10,000mAh at 3.7V is 37Wh, so the charge time is: 3h x 12W (Anker), or 7.5h x 5W (RAVPower/1A USB wall charger), or 15h x 2.5W (RAVPower/computer USB).I certainly don't work for Anker or owe them anything. I bought the two units that I used and I'm just a satisfied customer. I'm plugging them here because they're the same cost as this RAVPower but have so much more to offer. That being said, the promo-code sale on the RAVPower today for $35 (see slickdeals dot net) is hard to pass up, especially if you just have 5V stuff to charge!

Excellent main travel charger! Charges what others dont. Sweet!!!

I have had two chargers in the past and neither of them charged my new Ipad and my Samsung Tab Plus 7.0. This one, awesomely charges them both in the second USB slots. The first you can charge a Kindle, your phone (mine, an HTC one S), or bluetooth speaker whatever. The piece looks really nice and high quality. Really great tech supplement. As always, the pros and cons:Pros:10,000 mahs!!! This is unheard of at this price pointsleek, good looking, feels good in the handon/off switchcharges ipads and tablets of all kindscharges fastblue lights allow you to know the power leftlots of plugs for various techreally great case(velvet black) to hold it all in.Con:Bit heavy and large for a portable battery packProprietary plug for charging it up (usb for out so that's easy as a lot of you have ipad ipod plugs everywhere in your apt)Takes a long time to fully charge up. 9hours. (but I concede thats 10,000 mahs you got with you).All in all, this is well worth what you're paying for, especially if you have a little mini one for emergencies and this one for trips, travels, and times when you need more juice with the ability to charge two phones at once if you want. I have a messenger bag and bicycle daily so i keep it in a side pocket with a plug that leads into the other pocket where i can charge anything i want. I just bought a 99 cent usb plug for my nintendo ds lite so i'll have that too. Good times. Lots of juice!!!!
