4This works for the purpose it was intended
By HIK in PA
I took the time to evaluate this product thoroughly and I think a lot of the reviews on here are not doing it justice. I had some problems at first with this product like a lot of you on here but it turns out that those were due to me using it wrong/missing instructions. First of all: Mophie customer service is great! I did not try to contact them through Amazon but went directly to their website where they have a live chat. I got hooked up with somebody right away. All communication with them was fast, friendly and efficient. But back to my experience.I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and was looking for something that can give me some juice when I am in a pinch, e. g. very late at night when I am at one of my sporting events. I do not want to carry a charger and cables around with me all the time. I got a spare battery, but you have to remember to take it with you ;). Which I probably would e. g. for a long trip with no access to an outlet but for sure I won't have it with me on this occassional emergencies to tie me over for a few hours. I wanted something I will have with me all the time which is not too bulky. So the key chain battery sounded like a great idea. I did not expect that a 1000 mAh battery would give me a complete charge (the Galaxy S3 hat a 2100 mAh battery and there is always some loss if you transfer energy from A to B). I expected something around like a 30 - 40% charge from this.At first I had some problems. My boyfriend tried to use it and did not realize that the two cables were really only one cable. One end has the USB plug the other end has the micro USB plug. You always have to have one end of it plugged into the mophie or it won't work! So that might be the answer to some of you who said you got 0 charge out of it. That is what happened to my boyfriend. Once I pointed out the cable issue, it charged his phone fine (HTC).I tried to charge the mophie with the wall charger that came with my phone. It has a USB port. It seemed to charge the mophie fine judging by the light indicators, but I got only a 10% charge out of it. That is why I contacted Mophie. They told me this is not normal and sent me a replacement very quickly. Naturally they covered the shipping costs. I was extremely pleased with their customer service. The second device seemed to work better right out of the box. I charged it again through my wall charger and again it did give me only a very mediocre charge. Naturally I was very disspointed but not ready to give up. I then charged it via the USB port of my laptop. And this made a huge difference. Now to those of you who complained that using the USB port on a computer does not work when the device is in sleep mode: That is not the fault of the mophie. If your computer does not provide power to the USB port while in sleep mode, nothing can charge off it. What is bad though is that when I used the wall charger with usb port the mophie said it was charged (green light) but in reality it was not. That is a flaw. Plus, the device is too fickle in regards to how it can be charged. To use the wall charger would be more convenient. But I guess you do not use the mophie every day so charging it via the USB port of your computer is not such a big deal. Anyhow, I substract one star for the false "green light" indicating a full charge when using the wall charge and the inconvenience of not being able to charge it this way. Some people here wrote that the device needs a flashlight. Really? Every smartphone has a flashlight app nowadays. Plus, it would make the device probably bigger not smaller. Which brings us to the size: It is a tad big for a key chain fob but still managable. I got rid of all the unnecessary stuff on my key chain ;). And one more tip: Do clip the mophie to your key chain in such a way (e. g. by using a second ring) that you can take it off easily. That way the weight of your keys is not an issue when you want to charge to or from the mophie.Summary: This device is meant to give you emergency juice in a pinch, is easy to transport and hard to forget. And it does exactly that.Negatives: A tad big, instructions on how to use it could be better to avoid the problems I described above and which many of you experiencedPluses: It takes a very short time to charge it up (about 1 hour or 2) and it charges your phone very, very fast. Much faster than the wall charger that came with my phone. So that is ideal for the emergency situation. It is easy to take with you and it works as a key chain fob if you follow my tips above. This ensures that you have it with you when you need it.I will update this review shortly to give you exact number on how much charge I can get out of it for my Galaxy S3 and the exact charging times. So far I just used it to charge my phone from 80% to 100% and there was still some charge left. I want to drain it completely and test it again.

1doesn't work

The charger keeps coming out of my phone and I have to hold it on, furthermore it deson't come with instructions so I don't know if i'm 'doing it wrong;. The first time I needed it, it charged my phone up to 15% and then ran out of juice. The key chain thing is a good concept, but it desn't work becuase my keps are to heavy to be hanging from my computer. Their cord needs to be longer.

I was initially drawn to the micro reserve because of its size. While I found it a big too large to actually put on my keychain, It still fit comfortably in my pocket. The fact that it came with it's own plug was a bonus.I actually bought two of these, one for me and one for my boyfriend. We both have the Motorola Droid 4. As soon as I opened the package, I checked the battery level, and it showed solid green. Thinking it must have already come with a charge, I hooked it up to my phone. My phone said it was charging for about the first ten seconds and then stopped. When I unplugged the Mophie, I checked it's battery life and it wouldn't even come on.I initially thought this was because it was brand new, so I didn't think there was problem. So I decided to plug the device into a wall outlet using a plug head from one my cell phone chargers. Nothing happened. But then, maybe they just weren't compatible. So I plugged the device into a USB outlet on my computer. The LED showed up red, then started flashing green. Now according to the instructions, if the LED light won't come on, it needs to be plugged up. If you check the battery while the device is unplugged it will light up red, orange, yellow, or green to display how much charge it has. Additionally, when charging the device, you can press the battery indicator and it will flash one of the above corresponding colors to let you know what stage of charging it is in.At no point in testing this device did I ever see any color other than green or red.Anyway, since my device was now flashing green that meant it was close to full charge, which didn't make sense if it had been completely dead a moment ago. I ended up letting the device sit plugged into the USB outlet for some time. I later did a test with another plug head and plugged the device into a wall outlet. The LED lit up solid green and told me it was fully charged. Again, moments before, the device had had no power and wouldn't even light up.But when I plugged the device into my phone again, it would only provide power for about ten seconds and then immediately die.It was only after I read the other reviews on this site that I realized what was going on. After testing both power packs I discovered they did the exact same thing as others on here have mentioned.- If you plug it into a wall outlet, the device will say it is fully charged, even if it was dead a moment ago.- No matter how long you charge the device, it apparently will not power up.- It will provide only a few seconds of battery power to a phone before indicating that it is out of power.- The indicators on the device will only show two colors: Red for out of power, Green for fully charged. This happened on two separate devices, and I tested both over the course of 48 hours before I ultimately returned them. Save yourself time and do not buy this product.
