Defective, Doesn't work

The battery arrived promptly in 2 days but did not work with my Blackberry Torch 9800. When I insert the battery into the phone it would not turn on. When I tried charging the phone with the new battery, I was first met with the battery and lightning bolt symbol which indicates the battery is compeletly drained and is charging. After a few seconds this symbol turned to a battery symbol with a big red X in place of the lighting bolt indicating that the battery was not holding a charge and could not be charged. I am therefore returning the battery in hopes of finding another one that actually works.

I just purchased this very battery. It arrived in a small plastic ziplock pouch, not sealed in bubble plastic and card like one you would buy at AT&T or at a Blackberry dealership. It LOOKS authentic (codes, Made in Japan, etc) but when inserted in my Blackberry Torch 9800 it did not work, re-charge AT ALL. the LED indicator of my BB blinked red a couple of times, and then stopped. The battery acted inside my BB as if it was dead. My understanding is that BB batteries are coded to prevent the use of pirated batteries on BB equipment. If the BB does not recognize the code, the battery will NOT work. That is exactly what happened with this battery, which leads me to believe that, in spite of the advertised "authenticity", it is not. The tell-tale sign is the price of this battery; a genuine BB is around $30-40. I returned it today and hopefully it will be refunded by "Amazon" (it is not an Amazon product, my box came from a secondary supplier). Hope this helps!

Works fine

TO me this seems the original battery though I would not know how to recognize a knock off. So far it charges completely and last as the original one I lost.
